Twisted
@ The Venue
Ok Twisted was quality, heres what happened... After driving about 150 miles to get to my first rave we were fairly nackered so we went for some lunch before the event. Afterwards we were waiting outside The Venue speaking to these Scotish people (Respect) who were big Twisted fans even though this was only its second showing. As soon as the doors opened the cue was formed and the security were friendly, they allowed you to drop of any items like bags in the clockroom (behind the counter) and to get in it only cost £12 as apposed to paying £10 for a ticket. Once inside we all listened to some djs warming up whilst the other arenas (more like rooms) were opened up one by one, as this happend we went an explored to see them. The decor was spot on, the downstairs (digital ayslum) was just a typical bar and seats, no much room for dancing but still fairly cool, the middle room (reflexion) was much bigger, no seats as such and it was mainly a bar with a big dance floor and a stage, the upstairs room (the darkside) was fairly small but was the best it had two seperate sections one for dancing and one for seats it had a live screen with skyone on and some netting and stars on the ceiling. Some of the hangings would be really strange if you were tripping, with such things as a frog with dice and judges flying on brains. Other things to note was that there was gambling machines and plenty of toilettes with running water (if you didnt want to pay for bottled water). Security kept everyone moving and only allowed about 4 people out for air each time. Drinks were good value, alcohol was £2.50 for a bottle or a pint, softdrinks were like £1.50 for a pint of coke and £1.50 for bottled water. A small coke was like 40p. However i did get charged £3 for a pint of coke in one of the arenas so i just handed her £1.50 and she let me off, so they need to get their price plan better :) For the first hour and a bit no one danced however once a few coaches arrived and place got busier people starting living things up. Everyone was incredibly friendly to each other. Rather than someone wanting to rip your head off if you so muched as looked at them, they would chat with you. A real good crowd with no twats! I missed all the happy hardcore sets because we were moving rooms often, but I heard they were good. The darkside which mainly played gabba was spot on, a real lively room with everyone going mental :), The hard trance sets were good and downstairs with the drum and bass and old skool was also fairly lively (but not as much as the other arenas). There was a few things which spoilt it but it was mainly with me. Since this was my first rave i was going mental from like 10 onwards. So around 2am I was completly nackered but still managed to stay on till 3:30 when I light weighted it out. It was really lively when I left and i wanted to stay. I would of got a seat but there wasn't any in any of the arenas, it was completly packed. So next time Twisted GET some more seats! :) Next time i go to a rave I'll be seating during the beginning whilst the place gets more packed then go mental during the more livelier sets. Anyway once we came out we walked around Edinbrough for like one hour searching for the car and our feet were killing us. Heh, next time i know to take it a bit easier ;-) It was my first rave so technically I don't know what makes a good one, but I have heard from "exprienced ravers" that is was a top night which was hard to top, and hay I had good time :)
