Twisted @ The Venue
23rd-Apr-2000

My mate and I arrived at the venue at around 9pm after a strenuous 2 drive from Newcastle ish. After a short and lenient search we entered The Venue club. This club has 3 floors from basement to 1st floor and funnily enough we had to go through the basement arena to get to the ground floor main arena.

By now it was about 10pm and Tom Wilson stepped up on the dex to play a set of oldskool Scottish classics before mixing it into a 96 happycore set. I've never been a big fan of "Uncle Tom" and if mixing determined who got to play sets, he'd never get to play out if you know what I mean, still a nice tune selection I'll give him that.

Next up was the man I've not heard in a couple of years, yes it was the GOD himself, and it was Scott Brown. Scott played some of his storming new tunes in the first 30 mins and one in particular either ev44 or ev46 both yet to be released as of writing this had me rushing like no other tune that night, you will see when you hear it :) After 30 mins Scott turned to a more gabbery set that had us old Scottish/Newcastle ravers rocking like the good ole days.

The next set was either a hard house or trance set, I cannot tell the difference but I'll say it was fairly good, enuff said.

Now was the time for the only pa of the night to grace the stage. Bass Overload. Like a typical Scottish pa they played some rather bouncy and rocking hardcore. This got the crowd back to their feet after the previous set and everyone seemed to enjoy it including me.

It was probably time for Marc Smith or Davie Forbes to play but for reasons unknown to me neither turned up. So Djs Cutthroat and Pulsator played a hour of hard bouncy techno that really drove us mad, now this night was starting to feel like a Rez for atmosphere in my opinion. Overall Cutthroat and Pulsator are good djs and I couldn't notice any flaws.

Haston and Bounceman were up next and to my surprise the played the much loved by me Spanish hardcore, Spanish bouncy techno, Spanish bouncy trance or whatever you want to call it. There's one thing for sure though this music makes us ravers go wild up hear and I'm just dying for some of my southern mate to hears some full on Spanish sets at events. The mixing from Haston and Bounceman was simple first class and the best mixing I've heard from all the djs I know that play the spanishcore. Well done Haston and Bounceman, set of the night.

From now on there were no more Hardcore set, oh well the atmosphere in the place was electric enough for me to last.

Overall this was only Twisted's second event and the place was rammed. I do hope that there will be another as I'll certainly first through the door

A big shout to all I met there, I cannot remember all your names and I won't disappoint and list the ones I do remember :)
